Ruby Bridges

Ruby Bridges was born in the 1950's and she was known for being the first African American girl to attend William Frantz School. Many desegragation laws had just passed in Lousianna and Ruby was only one of six other African Americans to pass a test which allowed them into White schools. Ruby was disliked by many because of the color of her skin. Parent's of the white kids took their kids out of class and for over a year it was only Ruby and her teacher, Mrs. Henry. Ruby wasn't allowed to leave the classroom unless she needed to use the bathroom; in that case, she was escorted by a fedral marshal. Finally, years later, white students began attending the class that Ruby was in and now Ruby teaches a class full of kids.
